Paul Czege has created a new RPG design challenge. It seems like a unique idea, as these things go. If you’re interested, or if you know someone who might be, share it far and wide.

So you’re telling me I can write 700 words about a talking fish game and have other people finish it for me? I’m liking the sound of this.

Jason Cordova and I talked a little about it last night but I am still a bit unsure what constitutes the core of a game. is the core entirely thematic: “talking fish in an office setting..” or does it need to cover mechanics: “talking fish in an office setting, where the players draw cards to sabotage their coworkers.” If it involves mechanics then the initial word limit might be a bit restrictive.

I think deciding what the core of the game is is part of the exercise. I ended up submitting essentially an intro that gave an overview of the scenario and one mechanic that I thought was important.
