Stumbled across this article earlier, I’m of the opinion that while reading provides you with a wider background of items & situations to choose from, the single best thing that improves GMing is being able to retailor a story to suit your player’s needs at a moment’s notice; basically being a better improv writer.
What are your thoughts?
I finally read this article. I think the author makes a good point, but I think it’s only a good point for the trad GM who predetermines everything that will happen in the game.
For the type of gaming we do, I would suggest it’s more important to watch a lot of movies and TV shows, since there is more ‘acting’ going on at our RPG table. I’m basically agreeing with Noah Stevens.
