So, here’s a thing we need: Someone who is willing to run traditional RPGs on Wednesday nights at Jax. I’m thinking D&D, OSR stuff, Shadowrun, or even shudder Pathfinder. We know there’s a demand for it and we’d like to make it happen.

It is a hard requirement that any such GM be willing to run their game so that people can drop in and drop out from week-to-week. For example, if A, B, C, and D show up for session 1, you must be willing to continue the game if A, B, X, and Y show up for session 2. This flexibility is a hallmark of Gauntlet event organizing and it’s non-negotiable.

You should also be reliable. Rob Ferguson and I run 2-3 games each per week, without fail. Having the same passion as us is helpful.

  1. Wednesday could be the day PFS players shower, so it might be bad for them, too.

Or possibly the day they have to report to their parole officers.

And there’s a good chance Jax is within 2000 feet of an elementary school.

  3. Russell Benner I don’t know a lot about Runequest (except for that sweet iPad game, King of Dragon Pass). Would it be a big enough draw? That’s kind of what we’re going for – something that will bring a few extra people out. That said, we can try it. Are you willing to run it?

  5. Kerry Harrison  We want Wednesday to serve the purpose of the old Friday One-Shots, which is how we found a lot of people last year. And Jax is a pretty terrific location for supporting large groups of people (there is plenty of space and it is conveniently located).

I think there is a recognition among some of the Gauntlet regulars that we need to expand beyond the admittedly niche/indie games we typically play. Rob Ferguson, Daniel Lewis Derek Grimm and myself are not inclined to run traditional games, and so we need someone to do it. My personal preference is we find a known, skilled GM of traditional games (like, for example, Doyle Tavener  or Mark Chance ), but we can test-drive a few people, see how it goes.

Another thing that would help is if we lift the dues requirement on the Meetup. It is an artificial cap on the number of people willing to come out and play a game. I would happily pay the Meetup expense out of my own pocket, but only if I get ownership of the group.
