Last night was my first time attending the Wednesday game at Jax Bar and Grill. I had a terrific time! The games played were Archipelago, The Final Girl, and a bit of that Star Wars game with the crazy dice. Archipelago is my new love in RPGs. I have fallen for it hard, like I did with Dungeon World earlier this year and Fiasco a couple of years before that. The story we told last night was one of the most elegantly structured, poignant and just downright exciting I’ve had the pleasure of helping create in awhile. We did an Arabian Nights setting and it was  sublime.

It sounded like the other table was having a great time with The Final Girl. That one has been getting a  lot of play around The Gauntlet lately, and it’s easy to understand why: creating a horror movie, populating it with a herd of campy characters, and then mercilessly slaughtering them one-by-one is a total blast.

I’m looking forward to the next Wednesday meeting. Thanks to Rob Ferguson for organizing this weekly shindig.

  1. Sounds like a great setting.

On a totally unrelated note, the next time we randomly select a contributed setting, don’t be surprised if I bring mine in a sealed envelope…

  3. Jason Cordova The only problem is now I really want to play a game in that setting, so don’t be surprised if I awkwardly shoehorn a djinn or two into WtMoYFaBA, YP tomorrow.
