Margaret Weis Productions is losing the Marvel license. The PDFs will only be available on DriveThru until 04.30.
This is sad news, because I think MWP managed to accomplish something that has eluded the RPG industry for years: a superhero game that is actually balanced and playable. To the extent people did not buy into Marvel Heroic, I think it’s because the game de-emphasized the creation of original characters and adventures.
That’s kind of a bummer, though I think the Marvel license was the least interesting thing about the system to me. I’d have been much more excited about making my own character than playing one that is already as well-defined as the Marvel heroes are. Wonder if there’s any plans to spin it into a generic superhero RPG…

I guess with the forthcoming Cortex Core Rules, you can make any kind of game you want. I myself am not a fan of universal RPG systems, but MWP has proven that Cortex works well for superheroes, so it may be worth trying.
