Has anyone taken a look at DnD Next yet? Just started studying it myself, and would like to see if anyone has started playtesting it yet?

Yep, got to play a playtest game of it last month, I like a lot of what I’m seeing in it, so am remaining hopeful that it’s going to be a game I want to play when it’s released.

I playtested the first iteration, had a bit of fun with it, but haven’t done anything else with it since.

I like the return to what I see as Basic D&D with a little bit of all the ‘good’ stuff from later editions. I’m a big basic D&D player myself, with a strong belief that a good DM and players should decide the action in a game, not the rules :). As Michael B. will tell ya, I think one of our better weekends in D&D basic was 3 adventures (Castle Caldwell, Bane of Llewyln and Caves of Chaos), with over 60 encounters, and players progressing through 5 levels. Try and do THAT in DnD 4E 🙂 So yea…I really like what I’m seeing!
