I had a blast at OwlCon.  I saw the Kerry’s Dungeon World sessions were booked solid, so I’m curious how those went.  I played Ogre: The Distended Edition on Friday night, and ran 3 quick (2-hour) sessions of Cosmic Encounter. The more I play Cosmic, the more I like it. It helps that the players were fun and good sports.  Ogre was good for a wargame, which I’m not normally a fan of.  It was mostly fun playing with the miniatures, and my fellow players were nice guys. The Ogre box was HUGE. I almost could have curled up inside it myself.  I’ll post my photos in a couple of days, but right now I have to catch up with my girls who I’ve been away from all weekend.

I thought some of y’all might be interested to know that online preregistration for OwlCon XXXIII starts Friday, December 27, at 9:00 pm.  The ‘Con dates are February 21-23, 2014, at Rice University.  Two years ago I ran a couple of fun Fiasco sessions, and this year I’ll be running Cosmic Encounter (forgive me for the boardgame!).  I notice Kerry is running Dungeon World, but has so far neglected to make any shameless plugs.  Maybe see you there?

parrish warren Ferrell Riley Jason Cordova +daniel lewis, thanks so much for a great game of  Fine Mess Games’s Lapins & Lairs last night!  For those of you in the studio audience, here’s a summary: We were in some grasslands in pre-WW2 Northern France, near a factory and a village. Our friends started out under attack from Scrimshaw the one-eyed hawk, and managed to escape, just barely.  Hops the Not-Afraid-of-Dogs thought that we should look for a better place to live, but the fearless leader, Truffle, thought everything was fine.  Unfortunately, the warren was in the path of first a fire, then construction of a new paved road.  Everyone but Truffle decided to leave.  Truffle, severely injured, went off to live with the rats.  In the end, our intrepid rabbits bested 2 dogs and Scrimshaw, and found a better place to live.  Huzzah!  I look forward to playing this one again.

It’s time to play the “Bunnies & Burrows” skin of Apocalypse World called Lapins & Lairs.  Lapins & Lairs is a game about intelligent rabbits trying to make the best of a world filled with hazards, predators and, worst of all, other rabbits.  While the rabbits in your games will solve some of their problems and discover things they never thought to try before, they are still bound by their basic physiology and nature.

(This is Fine Mess Games’ playtest version)

I’ll provide snacks.  Bring what you’d like to drink.

Had a blast tonight playing InSpectres.  Our little New Orleans franchise kicked a demoness’s butt right back to her home dimension, along with her hoard of zombie Civil War soldiers.  We also rescued a missing boy to boot.  We ended up a bit on the hole, but hey, you gotta spend money to make money, right? Cue photos from Jason Cordova.  Thanks for running it!

Jason Cordova , here is the reminder you asked for: What does it mean to be a clone?  A single clone among the many clones of Nano.  Alike in every way, you serve your purpose together.  That is, until the day when things go wrong.

Here’s a hack by the author of Nanoworld: A Game of Clones.  I’ve always wanted to play Bunnies&Burrows, so now I can play it without having to learn new rules!

Ok, so I’m at that point where I want to get feedback and, if I’m lucky, some outside playtesting done on this game that I’ve been working on.  My aim is to create a *World game that is to Bunnies and Burrows what Dungeon World is to Dungeons and Dragons.

Lapins & Lairs

Lapins & Lairs is a game about intelligent rabbits trying to make the best of a world filled with hazards, predators and, worst of all, other rabbits.  While the rabbits in your games will solve some of their problems and discover things they never thought to try before, they are still bound by their basic physiology and nature.

The playtest version, linked below, is all prettied up and ready to go.

Questions, comments, and curse words are all welcome forms of feedback.
