Two reports today going over four different game sessions.

In the unnamed campaign I play with some fans from the Loading Ready Run discord, we went to go negotiate with some goblins. The first group were nomadic and fine to move on, but first the chief wanted us to rescue his daughter who had been kidnapped by another clan further to the north.

One thing I’ve found about the format of Zihu’s hymns is that it’s harder to interject humor into those than it was the ballads in the Princes of the Apocalypse story. My party is a bit disturbed by the results of death by radiant damage (think Raiders of the Lost Ark) and are also inordinately concerned with the Create Bonfire cantrip. Though as it currently stands, I am the primary healer of the team.

I will note that the ballistae and troll were both legit scary to run into as 2nd level characters.

We’ve hit third level now, the barbarian chose to go with Storm Herald, Zihu is going pact of the chain so she can get a flying snek that can convey her heals via a boop on the snoot. The bard and rogue I don’t think have chosen their archetypes yet.

Meanwhile, we’ve had three sessions of the crossroads campaign but two of those were short sessions focused mostly on our team doing basic set-up of her stronghold and figuring out how to look for and recruit people as well as take on jobs for the center. My brother really likes to do management style games so he’s quite good at setting up this sort of thing. It does mean a bit of time getting set up though.

We’ve rescheduled our meeting time so that I’m more conscious for game and the most recent game went much better going 5 hours in total. Though we still spent most of that investigating and hanging out an open air cafe waiting for the cavalier we want to recruit before trying her house and having to go rescue her.

In any case, given Kanti is a bit more wordy in her journal than Zihu it’s easier to show the exact events, though I tend to have her skim over them a little bit.

Video Updated

Since the google toolbox for hangouts seems to have gone the way of the Dodo. I have put together this quick rough video on how to use OBS to get your Lower 3rd back and also add other graphical elements to your Hangout camera.

there are a few steps. I may re-record this later if I can find some time to do a bit more production value on it. but the basics of using OBS to do Lower 3rd in Hangouts is here.

NOTE this really will only help Windows users. if your on Mac or Linux you will need to hunt down a different Virtual Camera Output plugin for OBS..

Friday Dreams

Friday Dreams

Friday Dreams

I have rolled 2d6 + CHA and the result was ‘7,’ so that’s seven dreams to pass out this week…

A dream to Gerrit Reininghaus for his portrayal of Julia the Wyrm in Mercy Falls ’83, a fascinating character who is managing to match (and even surpass) my legendary Mercy Falls rogues gallery in pure villainy.

Another Mercy Falls ’83 dream to Philipp Neitzel, who let me go there with his Hollow who suffers from dysphoria. Led to one of the most bleedy scenes for me in a long time.

A dream to Kate Bullock River Williamson Richard Ruane Maria Rivera and Lauren McManamon, who are already ankle deep in planning Gauntlet Con 2018, even though it is still eight months away!

A dream to the game runners on Gauntlet Hangouts! That space is no longer the private playground of Rich, Lowell, and I, which makes me very, very happy.

A dream to Rob Abrazado, who does that wonderful, difficult-to-summarize, but absolutely necessary community cheerleading that makes the Gauntlet possible.

A dream to our game designer Patrons: Phillip Wessels Ray Otus Michael X. Heiligenstein and Fraser Simons. Their monetary pledges are obviously helpful, but more important: they let me apply my very unique experience in this hobby to their creative projects, and that is personally satisfying for me.

Do you have dreams to give out this week? Post them in the comments (non-Gauntlet related dreams are totally fine!)

HEARTS OF WULIN

I’ve run two sessions so far of my wuxia PbtA hack, Hearts of Wulin. It’s a project in progress, but I’m digging the play we’ve had. In my post I go over the basics of the system, next time I’ll go over the playbooks. Take a look and check out the session videos if that’s your jam.
