Love our Gauntlet traditions!

Years ago, when gauntlet was a quietly prosperous indie group that had games at a bar and grill called Jax several nights a week in Houston, TX, we had a particularly slow night where just a few gamers showed. These few gamers decided they didn’t have enough to play what they had scheduled; there were only three of them if my memory serves me. A fun little game of Microscope would be just the thing to scratch the gaming itch. They decided on a particularly ridiculous premise for this universe of Microscope: what if the gauntlet ran the universe in the future? The game was great laughter about evil robots from the future warping in, Terminator -style, to assassinate the clone of Jason Cordova, the leader of this future. A religion had been formed named Realities Discerned that could answer all of the questions any of the faithful could imagine.

Now, years later, in the wake of GauntletCon, I remember these early days. A successful Discern Realities podcast, a multitude of folks who love the gauntlet and want to participate more… Keep an eye out for evil robots, will you?

Dreams to everyone playing or running games on Gauntlet Hangouts.

Dreams to everyone playing or running games on Gauntlet Hangouts. We currently have 86 sessions on the calendar. 76 of those games are full. Of the 10 that are not full, 6 of them have 3 or more players, meaning they will make. The other 4 are new to the schedule.

That’s 88% full, 95% full enough. That makes me so freaking proud and happy.

We have got to figure out ways to expand things, though. The demand is definitely there, and only going to increase when we open up Patreon slots next year.

Here is a nice note someone wrote me about DR and our DW YouTube vids.

“Late to the party, but I just wanted to say I recently discovered both your Discern Realities and your actual play vids (took me a while to realize that it was you in both as I discovered each through different routes!) but I gotta say, they are amazing!

The podcast is just amazing: Short and to the point, while retaining all the interesting bits. I love that you include some actual play.

The longer vids on youtube are great to watch as a GM, as they showcase very well that Dungeon World does not need to be about fighting, more fighting, mixed up with some fighting. While there is nothing wrong with that, my players like the social stuff and mysteries a lot as well, and you really do that extremely well. And people were telling me it couldn’t be done in Dungeon World! 🙂

Well anyway, just dropped in to declare my eternal love and to say: Keep up the good work! :)”

That’s about the best thing you can say to me about one of our podcasts.
