In the newest episode of The Gauntlet Podcast, I am joined by Joshua Fox of Black Armada to discuss his new game, Flotsam: Adrift Amongst the Stars. We also discuss a lot of RPG theory and other topics. It’s a really wonderful, warm conversation. NPR AF, really (or Radio 4 AF, I suppose).

Enjoy!

  1. Hijos Del Rol it is interesting, because it’s subtitled rather than dubbed, so our rather ropey Spanish plus general romance language knowledge means we can kind of detect sometimes when they’ve translated Spanish idiom into English.

So forex: it seems that in Spanish the go-to swear word is “balls”, but they never translate it that way. Is it right that you use “balls” to mean “fuck”, “idiot” and many more? That’s how it seems.

Also: I really want to design a Ministerio RPG.

  3. Joshua Fox mmm kind of. But it’s usually as part of some expression like (literal translation) “Don’t touch my balls”, which means something like “don’t fuck with me”. The most common swear word is “joder”, which similarly to “fuck” can be used in almost infinite ways.

And yeah, you should do it. That’d be awesome.
