Happy Holidays Gauntleteers!

Happy Holidays Gauntleteers!

Happy Holidays Gauntleteers!

TL;DR: This group rocks, and I wish you all to leave any frustrations and sorrows in the Old Year, and carry the joy of gaming and anything else joyful (there must be something else, right?) into the New Year. May the New Year bring you all new games, new friends, and new amazing surprises!

I wanted to give a big thanks for a great year of gaming and podcasts. The crew of the Gauntlet have been overwhelmingly a positive influence, giving me much life and hope this year. Special thanks to Jason Cordova, who keeps pushing the community forward into new and interesting directions: new podcasts, new Codices, new members, and a push for inclusion. There are definitely going to be some growing pains, but from what I’ve seen, this is a thoughtful group that will not only get through that, but become even more amazing because of the effort.

Additional call outs: Richard Rogers, for not only doing an excellent podcast that is really helping us to explore new games and bring new people to gaming and the Gauntlet, but being patient with some of my fumbling character plays.

Tim B, Saffire Rainbo, Timothy Bennett, and Tor Droplets for their brilliant Pocket-sized Play, that shows how each game can positively sing.

Also, thanks to Yoshi Creelman for being a sport, and running my first Monsterhearts game — it took me a while to find my feet, but Yoshi and the other players (Richard Rogers, J.D. Lichauco, Phillip Wessels) made it an experience that you think over and over when it’s done and can only say, “Wow. I was in that game?” If you get a chance to play with any of them, don’t pass it up!

Finally, Kate Bullock and Saffire Rainbo have been an amazing influence and help already in helping me better understand the minefields and labyrinths of playtesting, inclusion, and safety. And they are very patient and responsive: how cool is that? Really hoping I get a chance to play a game with them next year…

Oopps. This was a long post. Sorry about that! Once I got going, I just realized how many people in the Gauntlet have been superb, and that’s not even everyone! This is a group that never ceases to amaze me with the thought they put into their games and into supporting each other even outside of the games.

  1. By the way, I’m not advertising the group associated with that image: it was an image search for “Best Roleplaying Party,” and that’s what came up. Maybe that’s what GauntletCon will be like? 😉
