It’s giving me life!

It’s giving me life!

It’s giving me life!

If you aren’t a listener of the Gauntlet Podcast (which you totally should listen) you may not know what this is. Basically it’s a segment from the show where the hosts talk about things (not necessarily RPG related) that are “giving them life.”

I want to say that VR is giving me life. The technology is finally there, the games and simulations are coming out. What’s one of the most interesting applications of this to me? Being able to simulate being in an 80s/90s arcade with neon lights and skee ball, upright game cabinets that can be programmed to run any game from when I was a kid. Using new tech to do the same old things is amazing.

What’s giving you life?

  1. Game design is giving me life! I haven’t felt this happy in ages since giving it a go, when my brother pushed me — I was uncertain but it has done wonders for my life and happiness! Didn’t consider myself to be a very creative person until someone gave me a push, I’d encourage others to do the same.

  3. Learning how to GM (for me it’s a relatively new skill) and trying in my own small way to contribute to this community, is giving me tons of life.

Truth be told, I am not (necessarily) crazy about role playing games specifically versus another form of fun and exciting socializing. However…

For me, the real pull of RPG’s is generally having fun and meeting new people who are creative imaginative, collaborative, and of good spirits.

Finally, I always love bringing people together for a fun time that lets them forget about the tough stuff in life for a while.

  5. VR is getting bigger every time at the trade shows I work for, with the applications getting way more numerous, affordable and – crucially – useful.

Giving me life: our rabbit, Dr Watson, got wry-neck last year and nearly died. Now he’s back to his old prima donna self, albeit still with a head tilt.

  7. David LaFreniere, awesome! I was hoping there were others in the Gauntlet who shared my second hobby.

I’m about to bottle a camomile witbier. Before that, I made a mango cayenne gose. Still deciding what I’m going to brew this year for the Fall.

    What was your latest creation?

  9. The Gauntlet Podcast (and community) is giving me life this year. In a literal meaning. I was at my lowest point in recent memory this past winter. The Gauntlet showed me a way of gaming that brought me out of the darkness.

You folks showed me the beauty of small games with a handful of sessions. Jason Cordova showed me it was possible to form a new roleplaying group as an adult.

    Thank you all.
