  1. I really want there to be a good game using this premise.  Classroom Deathmatch definitely missed the mark but I’m not convinced this one is much better.

The moves don’t look particularly interesting; too many of them take the place of things that should probably just come out in the RP (making friends, attacking unprovoked, etc.) and a ton of the 6- results are basically “it doesn’t work and you can’t ever try again.”

Still thinking that just running The Final Girl with this setting might be the best idea.

  3. Ironically, Final Girl was what came to mind when I was looking over this. I think the moves are a bit bland right now but I expect it to get the KS feedback treatment and hopefully improve a great deal. We shall see.

  5. Here is a paragraph that troubles me: “Last One Standing includes a lot of pre-made content – 100 pre-statted and illustrated contestants, 6 gorgeous and fully detailed maps, 6 directors and their full suites of devious events, and over 200 items ranging from the mundane (your knives and your bows) to the bizarre (ever tried to kill someone with a sack of marbles?).”

  7. Also: lots of pre-determined 6- results does not a good PBtA game make. That’s usually a sign the developer hasn’t actually played many PBtA games (I’m looking at you, tremulus). There is such a big difference between reading the rules for Apocalypse World (or Dungeon World) and actually playing the game regularly.

All that said, I hope they get lots of good feedback and make some adjustments. It’s unfortunate they went ahead with the KS, though.

  9. I have elected to drop out of this one. It just doesn’t sound like it is the kind of thing I would want to play the more I look at it. Too many other claims for my time.
